Me: God, why did you make me an orphan?
An orphan is something no one wants. An orphan is a burden. An orphan is to be pitied. An orphan has no place to belong. They say it takes a village to raise a child. An orphan has no village. No one wants an orphan for long. An orphan is not a real child.

God: I made you an orphan because an orphan is free. An orphan is not confined to one mother, one father, one set of siblings, one family. An orphan has many mothers, many fathers, many siblings, many families. The world is the orphan’s village. The orphan belongs everywhere. The orphan is not tied to one village. The orphan is my child.
